Written in a first version in 2007 and revised in 2009, Never ending… has been performed for the first time in Rome by the flutist Catalin Opritoiu (to whom was dedicated), together with the composer (processed voice). Since that time, the pieces has received different performance in combination with violin, cello or trombone by soloists from Romania and abroad.
Between the border of game and delirious realm, the piece is a musical paraphrase of Never ending roman, by Michael Ende.
The piece proposes a dialogue between two distinct musical characters: on the one hand, the constant voice element, live processed by special combination suggested by composer (that can be performed with live electronic effects produced by any of other devices), and on the other hand, a versatile character, which could be performed by flute, as well as cello or trombone with/without electronics.
The two personages try to relate/ communicate each other by seeking the own inner self through a various extreme hypostases - joy, impatience, melancholy, aggressiveness, beauty or doubt.
The piece also explores the composer’s preoccupation and research in using new media or live electronic staff in dialogue with the flute extended technique.
