Notes

  • Program notes:

The work is based on the painting of prosperous Suzhou by Xu Yang, a painter of Qianlong palace in Qing Dynasty. This painting is 12 meters in length, and "takes Lingyan Mountain as the starting point, passing through Mudu Town and then going east... into Gusu County Town, exiting the gate of Changmen... and ending at Huqiu Mountain."It describes in detail the prosperity inside and outside the ancient city of Suzhou at that time. The whole song is divided into "sweet rain and wind", "Tianfu in Wuzhong", "Shengshi Yuanhang". In thick ink and light color, the author depicts the landscape of Ancient Suzhou City, the Changxu city wall, the official government offices and commercial shops, the ancient ferry boats and other pictures, and reproduces the prosperous scene of the suburbs of Suzhou city. And take this to "write peace in pictures", praising the prosperity of the motherland and "voyage in a prosperous age". This work won the third place (first vacancy) in the 2018 Suzhou "Jinji Lake Global Symphony Composition Competition".
