Cutout fot tape - composer's commentary

The title of my piece refers to the tradition of folk paper cut-outs, but mainly to the "analog" tradition of mounting radio tapes with simply scissors.

However, the essential meaning of Cutout is much more brutal. The work was written in the spring of 2014, Poland, approx. 1000 km west of the new kind of conflict, called "hybrid war" or "war 2.0", which is an important part of the disinformation and to avoid any ambiguity. Cutout speaks of both shredded, vague, distorted information and - quite simply - by cutting off further provinces of Ukraine, paying a bloody price for trying to join our part of the world.
