Notes

  • Program notes:

Linutė, then the 9-year old girl, was the first performer of this piece on violin. So, while this score looks not so simple at first sight, it is affordable to play for pupils in lower grades, acquiring their taste for contemporary music idiom and notation. The idea was that much of music for children is composed in 4/4 or other boring meters, so I sought to “set the music free” in this piece. It often happens that children learn how to play, but not how to listen to each other when playing in the ensemble. Here, the proper listening to each other is necessary, otherwise it is not possible to perform these aleatoric structures. I also wished to “set free” the hearing of the little performers, by suggesting them to use different playing techniques at will (sul tasto, ponticello, etc).
