Mačiliūnaitė, Rita: Aspects

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

This composition-etude was inspired by my research on narratology. ‘Aspects’ is an attempt at depicting time, the most important attribute of a literary narrative, by means of music. The analysis of time of the narrative discerns three aspects: order, pace (time span) and frequency. These three aspects determine the form and material of this composition: the reprise symbolizes the order, prolonged glissandi and brief passages of sixteenth notes – changes in the pace, and leitmotifs – the frequency.
