Notes

  • Program notes:

Hongmeng, a piece of poetic symphony, was composed between January and July 2019 for classical orchestra. This composition draws inspiration from the Chinese legend about Pangu the Chinese ancestor. The legend has it that before Pangu divided the sky from the earth, the world had been formless and existed in what was called original energy, or, in Chinese, Hongmeng. This work describes how Hongmeng had come into being, developed, and kept taking on various shapes.
