Lutz, Nikola: GraphicSound IX

Basic information

  • Program notes:

GraphicSound IX is an improvising concept with graphic scores for variable ensemble. The graphics are sign-like but cannot be decoded in a distinct way, thereby a focus on an openly defined material is created, channeling the development of improvised music without determining it. Single sheets of graphics form a collection of translucent foils, that can be overlapped in up to three layers and put together as a formally variable score which is created spontaneously at the performing occasion. Visual and aural perception are forming the result conjointly avoiding hierarchy – a balance on the border between control and freedom.
