Kobayashi, Akira: Harp Concerto No.3

Basic information

Notes

  • Program notes:

Harp has been my favorite instrument. As the title shows, this work is my 3rd harp concerto. I studied the harp as a secondary instrument for two years at university. Since then, I have been keen on composing harp concertos.

I completed this concerto in August 2014. In this concerto, I focused on making the harp, solo instrument, stand out beautifully and colorfully, trying to employ some of new effects of the harp. Concertos must show soloists’ virtuosity that sometimes strongly impresses the audience. Also, concertos have to be innovative.
