Notes

  • Program notes:

Saraceno Impressions for string quartet was inspired by an exhibition in Helsinki Kunsthalle of works by Tomás Saraceno. The exhibition covered several works related to spiders and spider webs. One part of the exhibition consisted of enlightened glass boxes in a dark room. Inside of the boxes living spiders were weaving complex ethereal structures, some of them thick and impenetrable, some thin as air. Saraceno Impressions is an attempt to reflect these works by means of music. To reflect their horrifying beauty, complex organicity and fragile immaterialness, as well as the unstable nature of the spider silk as material.

  • Technical specs:

The work can be performed either with or without a video projection. If the projection is used, any equipment suitable for projecting a full HD video can be used. In that case lightning needs to be dark and the musicians need to perform with music stand lights.
