Notes

  • Program notes:

„Diagonalen im kubischen Räumen I – III“ [“Diagonals in cubic spaces I – III”] was conceptualised for a performance in an indoor swimming pool in Düsseldorf, a building which consists entirely of cubic spaces, in which the music could, as it were, cut diagonal swathes, thus breaking through or roughening the stone-hard or glass-hard materiality of the space. This work also has – as so often with Peter Gahn’s works – a visual correlative: “While working on this music I recalled the impressive space installation Omission by the artist Felix Schramm from Düsseldorf: Large wall fragments with smooth surfaces break diagonally into the space. The obliquely cut, crumbly edges let one view the internal supporting structure of the wall. ‚Diagonalen in kubischen Räumen I – III‘ is akin to a transparent, expansive installation across the cube of the performance space.”
