Notes

  • Program notes:

Ul-Kantum: Portraits of Arauco is a work written for symphonic orchestra commissioned by the conductor Eduardo Browne.
The piece refers to the Araucanía (south of Chile) in more than one way. On one hand the speech refers to how the magnificent landscapes of this region lavish forests, lakes and raging volcanoes impressed me. On the other hand in the middle of this soundscape emerges represented with bronze, with power, the songs of the peoples of that region who claim what rightfully should belong to them. In the piece is posible to feel these tentions generated by the long-delayed dissatisfied and and the balanced and harmonious landscape that is referenced in a descriptive way.
