Notes

  • Program notes:

The title of the work “As Intermitências da Morte” (Eng. “Death with Interruptions”), which at the beginning is played on xylophone in the Morse code, comes from the name of the novel by José Saramago. The composition does not repeat the plot of the book; it pictures the main idea – extinction of the death. For this purpose, sudden dynamic jumps, transition from “clean” timbre to noise, changes between natural and artificial sounds are used. All that rising and falling confusion dictates the inner chaos of a man who fights against death but is doomed to defeat.
