Tal, Yasmin  




Yasmin Tal was born on 1981 in Israel. She Graduated as a Pianist at the Rubin Conservatory in 1999. From 2004-2008, she studied Composition with Haim Permont at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance; also at the same time graduated cum laude from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, majoring in Linguistics and Asian studies. She then received her M.A. in music composition from the JAMD where she studied with Yinam Leef and Ari Ben-Shabtai. Tal has participated in several master's classes in composition, including classes with Richard Vernick and Daniel Peter Biro. Tal received the Dean of faculty award for 2009, won first prize at the Hanna Yador-Avni composition competition for orchestra and was nominated first prize in composition at the "Spring Competitions" at 2012. Also, three of her works with choreographer Meital Ohana were presented with awards.

Yasmin Tal is a fellow teacher at the Levinsky College of education, and leads a 6-year music program for junior-high and high-school students. Tal collaborates with various performers and ensembles, among her works are orchestral, chamber, choral and solo music alongside film, dance, electro-acoustic and music/sound installations.
