Biography

Peter S. Shin (b. 1991) is a composer whose music intermingles disparate musical vernaculars such as spectralism’s “hypnotic power of slowness” with propulsive electropop rhythms. His music has been performed at venues such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall, and he is the recent recipient of a commission by John Adams and Deborah O’Grady for the Cabrillo Festival, with fellowships and awards from Fulbright, Aspen Music Festival, Minnesota Orchestra, New York Youth Symphony, Kaleidoscope, and SCI/ ASCAP, among others. Peter is currently a composer fellow of the Berkeley Symphony until 2019 and has degrees from the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan.
