Biography

Stéphane Magnin is a French composer born in 1970. He composes above all instrumental works.
He graduated from the CNSMD Lyon, he followed the cursus in the Acanthes Center (1997) and the IRCAM’s Summer Academy (1998). His works are played in France and foreign countries, particularly by the Orchestre National de France, the Itinéraire, the Instant Donné, the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain. Laureate of several competitions, included the 5th composition competition by Grame/EOC 2004, he received orders from the French Culture Minister (State orders), Radio France, ensembles, and was resident in Toronto-Young Composers Forum (1999), Berlin-Akademie der Künste (2005), and Lyon-Grame (2005, 2006). His musical writing is guided by a strong interest for the sound, the energy, and the relationship between the musician and his instrument. His artistic process is connected to perception and sensitivity, in a search for expression and poetry. His scores are distributed by Babelscores.
