Jimenez, Alfred 




Alfred was born ın Kiev, Ukraine with a Ukrainian mother and a Cuban father. The family
moved to Sweden when Alfred Was 3 years old.
At 10 years old Alfred started to play the trombone and started studying at a high school
that specializes in classical music with Håkan Björkman as his teacher. He continued with
bachelor studies in trombone at the Piteå Academy of Music with Mikael Oskarsson as his
professor. Before he finished his bachelor in trombone he applied for the bachelor program
in composition and got accepted. He started study his bachelor in composition 2010 for
Prof. Jan Sandström at the same academy. During his time in Piteå I also studied conducting
with Prof. Petter Sundkvist and Prof. Erik Westberg and has had the opportunity to conduct
both his own music and premiered other fellow composers music together with the
ensemble Norrbotten Neo.
Alfred got his bachelor degree 2013 and continued with master studies at the Music
academy in Malmö with Prof. Luca Francesconi. He graduated 2015 and continued with his
soloist diploma studies right away. He did my last year of studies at the Universität für Musik
und Darstellende Kunst in Wien under the guidance of Prof. Prof. Detlev Müller- Siemens.
Alfred is now working as a freelance composer. He has also participated in masterclasses
with Bent Sörensen, Chaya Czernowin, Jukka Tiensuu, Mike Svoboda, Wim Hendrickx,
Philippe Hurel, Mark Andre, Isabel Mundry, Pierluigi Billone and Ming Tsao.
Alfred just finishing an orchestral piece for Antwerpen Symphony Orchestra that was
premiered May 14 2019 in Antwerpen. Alfred is now working on a piece for LSNO ensemble
from Riga to be premiered at the Vasarnica festival in Latvia Aug 23 2019.
