Biography

Ding Ying, Composer, Professor of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, President of Music Middle School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She was the winner of National Art Songs Composition Competition, “Five-One” Project etc. Her works, explored various genres and styles including works for solo singer or instrument, duo, trio, chorus, orchestra etc. Her music language is refined and elegant, restrained and implicit. Her artistic ideas, is to make fusion of eastern and western music, to make music emotional and rational, the essence of Chinese aesthetics, such as emptiness and reality, extensiveness and long-lasting charm, should be integrated into her own music through unique understanding and thinking. The vertical and horizontal conceptions from her, combined with her unique comprehensive music language presentation, is to convey the beauty of humanity and the real emotions from human nature.Her artistic styles found a full expression in her work, <Two Selected Poems from Tagore> for Mixed Chorus a cappella.
