(b. May 2, 1966, Deva). Romanian composer of mostly orchestral, chamber, choral, and vocal works that have been performed in Germany, France, Italy,USA, Brazil and Bolivia.

Ms. Cibisescu-Duran studied composition with Cornel Taranu at the Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca from 1985-90, where she then studied orchestral conducting with Emil Simon and Petre Sbarcea from 1991-1996 and earned diplomas in both subjects, as well as her DMus in musicology in 2001.

Among her many honors are four prizes in the Gheorghe Dima International Competition in Cluj-Napoca, First Prize and the Romanian TV Prize in the Iasi National Competition (1996) and two prizes in the Competition of the Lucian Blaga Festival in Sebes .In 2007 she earned The Union Composers Prize. She also earned two prizes as a conductor in the Craiova Conductors Compeition (Constanin and Jean Bobescu Prize, 1995; Filip Lazar Prize, 1996).

In 2009 she earned a composition residence in Connecticut, USA, where she composed “The string quartet No. 6”.

In 2010 her piece “Passacaglia for piano” was selected by “ISCM New World Music Days Festival - Sydney, Australia“ and was performed by Kerry Yong (UK).

She has conducted Philarmonic Orchestras of Sibiu, Targu-Mures, Craiova, Ploiesti, Botosani, Brasov, Bacau, Ramnicu-Valcea, Vidin (Bulgaria), Timisoara, Oradea, Bucharest Chamber Orchestra. She has been a member of the Composer Union of Romania (since 1992) and of Professional Women's Advisory Board of the American Biographical Institute since 2000.

She taught score reading as an assistant at the Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca from 1996-98, where she has been a professor of the same subject since 1998. In addition, she has given conferences in Germany, Israel, Moldova and Romania.
