Buffa, Ivan 




Slovak composer Ivan Buffa studied piano at the Conservatory in Košice, and then composition (Jozef Podprocký). After finishing these studies, he was further educated
at University in Vienna in the class of D. Schermann, M. Kopelent and M. Jarrell, in Bratislava in the piano class of I. Gajan, later M. Lapšanský and M. Štefko, composition in the class of V. Bokes. He rounded out his studies with the PHD study at the University of performing arts. He has participated in many international composers and performers master classes in Český Krumlov, in Austrian Reichenau - 2nd Composition Award for String Quartet, an interpreter course in Vienna (Gy. Kurtag), Walderbach (Elena Nesterenko).
In 2008 he founded, together with the leading young Slovak musicians, Quasars Ensemble, with which, as its artistic director presented at many concerts and festivals.During the Aspekte Salzburg Festival his composition Ritual was performed by the Slovak Sinfonietta of Žilina. It was a commission and the Music Fond Slovakia awarded him with the Award of J. L. Bella in 2007. CD "New Slovak music for piano" and "Contemporary Reflections" with Quasars Ensemble. Since 2008 he has been the pedagogue of composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
