Borzelli, Sylvia 




Born in Rome, currently based in Amsterdam. Graduated in piano and composition with maximum marks. She studied in Italy (Conservatorio O.Respighi), Sweden (Malmö Musikhögskolan) and The Netherlands (The Hague Royal Conservatoire). Important for her artistic development the opportunity to meet and study with composers such as Beat Furrer, Bernhard Lang, Yannis Kyriakides and Francesco Filidei. She received commissions and performances by musicians and ensembles such as ASKO, Nieuw, Linea, Reconsil, L’Arsenale, mdi, Sentieri Selvaggi, Notabu neue musik, 2e2m, Les Cris de Paris, Quartetto Maurice, Duo Dillon-Torquati, Dario Calderone, Manuel Zurria, Bas Wiegers, Jean-Philippe Wurtz and others, in festivals such as, among others, Venice Music Biennale, Nuova Consonanza, RomaEuropa Festival, Voix Nouvelles, Musica Strasbourg, Théãtre de la Ville Paris, Holland Festival, November Music, Estonian Music Days, Columbia University, Wien Modern. Selected and awarded in competitions such as IMC International Rostrum of composers, ISCM World New Music Days, Bucchi international competition, Henriëtte Bosmansprijs; commissioned and supported by institutions such as the French Ministry of Culture, Radio France, Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and the Fonds Podiumkunsten Nederland.
