Società Italiana di Musica Contemporenea (SIMC)
International Society for Contemporary Music – Italian Section

Summary of the activities of the last three years and some proposals for the future.

Re-organisation of the Association
The Association was coming from a unclear and relatively inactive period. Our first care has been to re-organise it, to give it proper legal and fiscal orders. We have now a new By-laws, properly legally registered, we are compliant with the VAT regulations, and the Association has its own banking account.

Members growth
Second goal has been the growth of the members number; for the purpose all the present members promoted the Association in their professional environment, with evidence of results.
Furthermore, in order to spread our presence on the territory, we have been in touch with many local music schools and Conservatories, to promote the Association and to propose local sections of the Association within them.

Relationships with ISCM
We have the goal to re-build strong ties with the International Society of Contemporary Music, in particular after the recent quick trip to their General Assembly in Stuttgart (July 2006): the appreciated the efficiency, the effectiveness and the dynamics of ISCM, and strongly believe that our Association can bring some contributions, as well as get many advantages to pursue our goals; in Stuttgart we started to be in touch with some National Sections of other countries, for common activities.

Activity scenarios, musical events and concerts organisation.
In the last three years we moved to organise events to promote contemporary music, in particular in less diffused areas (e.g. a series of concerts centered on the “melologo”).
Furthermore, we are working to foster the co-operation among various arts, in order to put in evidence the mutual relationships and to point out the role of music in our present society. In this area, SIMC is organising the initiative “Poetry calls Music”, finalised to a Festival of Poetry and Music to be held in 2007.
These initiatives and the presence of the members in the Italian professional musical life are making the Association more and more present in the Italian musical web.

Publishing initiatives
We have the goal of publishing books and executions of contemporary music.
We started a co-operation with an Italian publishing company, and we have in our catalogue a first book on the History of SIMC since its birth.
Our goal is to increase the titles, including essays and scores.
We recorded (with high quality) most of the organised concerts, and are now studying the publishing of related CDs.

SIMC Web site
In order to increase the Association visibility, and as a mean to better work together, we set up the SIMC web site, with address
