  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    ANNUAL REPORT 2020
    The ISCM – Austrian Section organized a lot of interesting and innovative activities with important partners both in Vienna and whole Austria. Most of the activities where single concerts, but also whole festivals and workshops. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 restrictions many activities had to be postponed to 2021.

    14.01. & 16.01.2020 | Israel
    airborne extended was founded in 2013 and is a female quartet for contemporary music consisting of flute, recorder/Paetzold, harp and harpsichord, with electronics, objects and performance. Its unique instrumental combination offers the possibility of creating a wide range of new sounds and colors that in recent years has inspired several generations of composers from all over the world.

    Airborne extended was invited to workshops and concerts in Israel in January 2020: On January 14th, Eitan Steinberg organized a workshop and a lunch concert in the large concert hall of the modern music university of Haifa. The workshop as well as the concert were very well attended.

    On January 16, airborne extended was invited to give a workshop and a concert as part of the conference "The well-tempered detune" at Bar Ilan University. The Israeli composers league had announced a call for compositions for this occasion - airborne extended chose 3 new works and performed another three pieces by Israeli composers.

    From 27.06.2020 until 15.9.2020 was possible to visit the congress pool as a 3D model with embedded artistic contributions on the website www.czirpczirp.cc.
    Artists this year were the wechselstrom (Christoph Theiler and Renate Pittroff), Arnold Haberl and Das Erste Ottakringer Blockflötengewitter. From abroad they invited the Australian composer and media artist Jasmine Guffond, who produced a two-part video with the American programmer and visual artist Ilan Katin. They were giving a preview for 2021 with the Taiwanese-French artist Alois Yang and the dancer Alex Zehetbauer. At the end of May, 360 ° recordings of the area and video recordings were made with the artists on spot. This material was combined into a virtual 3D model with embedded music videos. The czirp czirp website was used as a portal and redesigned in the course of this. http://www.czirpczirp.cc

    14.11. – 16.11.2020 | Italian Cultural Institute and Erbsenfabrik in Brick-5, Vienna
    Coo-production with Wien Modern
    The concert 9 by Anthony Pateras took place at the announced time on November 16, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. Anton Pateras played an approx. 45 minute long improvisation at Porgy & Bess, which was streamed live on www.wienmodern.at and www.porgy.at. The other concerts were postponed to autumn 2021.

    Robert Rasch – cello solo, Bruno Strobl – conductor, Nina Polaschegg – moderation
    New compositions by Dieter Kaufmann, Raffael Nasif, Roozbeh Nafisi, Hossam Mahmoud, and Bruno Strobl.
    Microtonal structures exist and existed in various cultures. Composers break down the usual semitone intervals into differently small intervals and thus create a multitude of richly varied sound images. The sounds of composers living in Austria, Brazil, Egypt, Iran and Austria meet in this concert.

    The Schallfeld Ensemble organized reading sessions and master classes with the internationally renowned composer Pierluigi Billone. Selected participants were: Mattia Clera, Aron Ludwig, Giulia Monducci, Frederik Neyrinck, Carlo Elia Praderio, and Emil Vijgen Strøbæk.
