Annual Report

  • Year:
  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications:

The International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) focuses on promoting new music and new composers from all over the world. The annual student compositional composition and Sun-river Prize Student New Composition Competition are always two of our most important events every year. We have received a large number of compositions written by young composers from more than twenty countries. As an ISCM section member, we have been very passionate to encourage the young generation of composers to create and promote their own voice.

Each year, as a ISCM member we are also very keen to be involved with the New Music Week organized by ISCM. In 2019, two compositions that composed by GUO Luo and FANG Fang from our section have been selected to perform on Estonia New Music Week 2019.

In general, it is a long journey to create a platform for contemporary music that is for a wider range of audience and composers in China. We will continue to make the access to contemporary music easier and broader for the public. Hopefully, in future there are more and more Chinese young composers appearing in our international music stage.
