  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    * In 2018, we mainly focussed on further developing the new structure and general approach for our activities. We held 2 focus group meetings and launched a dedicated ISCM-newsletter. By the end of the year, we counted 17 organizations (ensembles, festivals, concert halls ...) and 29 individual partners (composers, musicians) among our members.
    * We created dedicated webpages on our website, detailing both current and past activities of the ISCM Flemish Section (see
    * Both Melissa Portaels (MATRIX) and Stef Coninx (Flanders Arts Institute) attended the World Music Days in Beijing on behalf of the ISCM Flemish Section. Melissa gave a presentation on the activities MATRIX New Music Centre and the Musicology department of the University of Leuven organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Karel Goeyvaerts' death.
    * In the summer months, we organized a Call for Works in order to select our submission for the 2019 World Music Days.
    * In the fall ISCM Flemish section and Flanders Arts Institute organized a sector meeting on the opening night of Transit festival (October 12)
    * ISCM Flemish section is a member of the consortium of organizations behind the Belgian Music Days festival, which took place in March 1 and 2, 2018.
