  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    The Japan Federation of Composers Inc. Annual concert “Japanese Composers 2017” On 23rd February, 8 composers’ works were premiered at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall. These 8 composers are all new comers of the JFC. This night, three clarinetists performed their solo, duo and trio pieces. On 24th February, 7 pieces which published by the JFC were performed at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall. “To the Children” Kid’s Box Piano Concert On 31st March 2017, the concert “To the Children” was held at Kioi Hall(800seats). This is a concert series which composers perform their own piece at the stage. This year’s theme was “Dance in the World”. 27 composers performed their piano piece. “Asian Contemporary Asian Tradition” Three composers and one didjerido player were invited from Melbourne and concert was held on 29th March at Taito City, Tokyo. This concert series are international exchange concerts; in 2016 three Japanese composers visited Melbourne to attend the concert. Special events Asian Music Festival 2017 Asian Composers League Special event at temple 4 concerts were held in the temple in Tokyo. 23 pieces among about 100 submissions were performed. Especially concerts in Japanese traditional room attracted audience from abroad. 9th JFC Composers Award “Composition by both Japanese traditional and western instruments” 6 works selected by score screening were performed at the Toppan Hall, 22nd November. Two compositions were selected as the JFC Composers Awards. Jury were Yoshihiro Kanno, Toshio Nakagawa and Norio Fukushi.
