  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    nyMusikk is Norway’s centre for experimemtal music and sound art with over 80 years experience in commissioning, producing, curating and presenting new music and sound-based work. Through live music, screenings, installations, readings and lectures we arrange events exploring sound and music’s relationship with other art forms such as performance, film, literature, dance and visual art. nyMusikk have a main office in Oslo with four employees, and 11 branches located all over Norway that produce an annual concert program and festivals in their regional and local area. The local branches are volunteer based.

    Some of our main activities at the central office in 2017:
    January: Off The Page Oslo, a festival and independent publishing/record fair, devoted to music criticism, audio culture and sonic experiences. Took place in Bergen at Landmark/ Bergen Kunsthall.
    May: Only Connect - festival of Sound, a themed festival for adventurous music and art taking in Oslo. 15 works in 12 concerts and 2 panels. 7 world premieres and 2 Norwegian premieres.
    September: Commissioned sound installation with Jana Winderen opened in Oslo. Cooperation with the Munch Museum and their project Munch Museum on the move.

    Nationwide nyMusikk presented 144 concerts and events, 446 works where as 121 were world premieres in 2017.

    nyMusikk is supported by Norsk kulturråd, Det norske komponistfond, Komponistenes vederlagsfond and Oslo kommune.
