Finland is represented in ISCM by The Society of Finnish Composers (SFC), a non-profit organization that represents the composers of contemporary music in Finland.

Nordic co-operation is at the core of the society's international activities, with special focus on Nordic Music Days (NMD), the world's oldest ongoing contemporary music festival. Founded in 1888, NMD is held yearly, with its organizational rotation being the same as the number of Nordic Countries (5). In year 2016 NMD was organized by Iceland and was held in Reykjavik 29 September - 1 October. The Finnish composers featuring in the festival were Esa-Pekka Salonen, Lauri Mäntysaari, Lotta Wennäkoski, Ville Raasakka and Jarmo Sermilä.

SFC is a member of ECSA (European composer & songwriter alliance) and an active member of its ECF Committee, which organizes the ECCO concert series (The European Contemporary Composers Orchestra). In the 2016 ECCO concerts in Brussels and Ljubljana works by Olli Virtaperko, Jukka Linkola and Outi Tarkiainen were performed.

Domestically, FSC is supporting selected contemporary music festivals, including Time of Music (Viitasaari), Musica Nova (Helsinki), Uuden musiikin lokakuu (Oulu) and Tampere Biennale (Tampere). Additionally, SFC publishes its own magazine Kompositio and functions as one of the four publishers of FMQ (Finnish Music Quarterly), a magazine in English both in digital an paper format exploring Finnish music scene.
