  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    Beijing Modern Music Festival (BMMF) is a large-scale music event approved and supported by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture of the PRC. Founded in 2002 by Chinese prominent composer Xiaogang Ye, BMMF is committed to promoting the development of modern music in China, building an exchange platform for young musicians. Reviewing the 13 years history since its foundation, BMMF has gradually become the international cultural and artistic exchange platform, consistent of three special sections, including performance, exchange and education. Up to the year of 2015,BMMF has organized more than 400 high-quality concerts, 100 lectures and master classes, published large number of academic books,scores, audio and video discs. BMMF has been regarded as the most influential modern musical event in China, and gradually become one of the most important modern music festivals in the world.

    2015 marks the 13th anniversary of the foundation of BBMF, while keeping its originated function of creating the academic atmosphere for the exchange of modern music and as the platform of performance, exchange and education, BMMF is seeking to the extend the modern music to the mass public. To reach the goal, BMMF has made an adjustment for the performance, publicity and running base on its past experience. From 2011 onwards, beyond the Modern Music Festival in May, BMMF will organize more music performance and exchange events by inviting more excellent works from home and abroad all the year around, and thus to promote the modern music among the public.

    2015 Beijing Modern Music Festival includes 5 symphony concerts, 11 ensemble concerts, 3 chamber operas, 3 self-produced chamber music concerts for young composers, a school-to-school exchanging concert, and 6 master classes. Accumulating the thirteen-year-experience in organizing the modern music festival, BBMF is moving toward the world-class music festival.
