ISCM World New Music Days 2020 Postponed

ANNOUNCEMENT - 16 March 2020

With much sadness, I must announce that the double festival of ISCM World New Music Days and Asian Composers League Festival cannot take place in 2020. We were very much looking forward to presenting this ambitious double festival for the first time in Aotearoa New Zealand.

This difficult decision has been necessitated by recent global developments, as governments attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, in particular the border closures and other restrictions that many countries have been putting in place over the past few days.

Due to travel restrictions and other measures that are evolving very quickly on a global scale, we are aware that most international visitors to New Zealand will be unable to travel to the ISCM2020 World New Music Days / Asian Composers League 2020 Festival. We are working through the implications with the Executive Committees of the ISCM and the ACL in order to announce a clear decision. As Festival Director, I will be making a formal statement on this website and by email on Monday afternoon (NZ time).

Kia kaha.

Glenda Keam (Festival Director and ISCM President)
