The sun rising behind a bridge in Tongyeong
Since returning from the latest iteration of the International Society for Contemporary Music’s (ISCM) annual World Music Days, which this year was held in the remote South Korean fishing town of Tongyeong from March 27 to April 1, 2016, I’ve been struggling to figure out the best way to describe what I experienced during those six days. In order to try to explain this extremely unusual annual event and the community that participates in it, I've compared it to the wizard world that J. K. Rowling describes in her popular Harry Potter novels.
